We have just shot our new Spring Collection!
I hope that you love the collection, which is full of lots of colourful fabrics, styled into 1950’s inspired dresses and skirts, and we are also introducing our new pencil skirts available also as dresses. All of our garments are made from 100% cotton and are available to order in sizes 6-16.
Here are some behind the scenes images from our shoot, which we shot at the Plaza Cinema in Truro. The Plaza was opened in 1939 and is a beautiful representation of art deco buildings of the 1930’s. It is still used as a cinema up until the present day. We were lucky enough to be able to shoot in the screens and in the foyer/refreshment area as well as outside the cinema.
We worked with 3 local models, 2 local photographers and an MUA from Cornwall, all were a fab team to work with and I hope you enjoy the results!

After lots of thought and ideas, we finally have a logo to be proud of!
Our new Silly Old Sea Dog logo has been designed by Kate Hurst designs and is very special to me as it features my childhood dog and first best friend – Katie!
Katie will now be the mascot of Silly Old Sea Dog!
She was a Welsh Terrier born in 1983, unfortunately she passed away at the grand old age of 17 when I was at school, but here are some fab pictures of her having fun and inspiring the Silly Old Sea Dog logo in 2013!
This collection was produced as part of my degree. The garments are based around an inspiration of 1950’s fashion. I love the silhouettes of the era and the beauty that the 1950’s woman portrays. The importance of family and home life around this time has inspired me to create not only a womanswear collection but also to include men’s and childrenswear.
These images have been shot at Classic Air Force in Newquay where they have a large collection of vintage planes available for visitors to view and take pleasure flights in. I was also lucky enough to have use of a 1969 VW Karmen Ghia. By using the airbase and hanger at Classic Air Force I have been able to gain a set of beautiful images for my work with a very vintage inspired look.
The dress I am most proud of is the large photo fabric dress, the reason for this being that I also designed and had the fabric printed myself. The images on this dress were mainly taken by my Great Grandfather, Richard Barker throughout the 1950’s. My Dad was lucky enough to have been able to keep hold of a number of his photo albums, where I was able to take the images from to create them into a fabric. This dress is very special as it contains images of my Great Grandfather, and my Nana and Grandpa (including images of them on their wedding day) along with my Mum, Aunts, Uncles and various scenery shots. The dress even includes some pictures of the Queen during her Coronation Tour in which she visited my Great Grandfather’s place of work – Rolls Royce in Derby.
